This is where most of the less expensive hotels and condos in town are built, and perhaps the most popular swim beach in the area. The chop and surf can get pretty strong here though its not truly wave sailing. Great fun for people who are used to that kind of thing once you get outside. With southeast winds the swells have all of the bay to form. It is a neat place to sail in good view of the Lex (that big'ol WW2 Aircraft Carrier), and its proximity to the harbor. This is a popular site for kite surfers. Do be wary of swimmers.

Accessibility: Accessible by car.
Rigging Area: Mostly sand and some grassy areas.
Special Directions: There are many dead end roads to the beach, pick whichever you want. Near the north end is Hayes Street, which gets cleaner wind because it is between a gap in the row of condos. Plus, two local windsurers live on that street and have adopted that launch spot.
